Who, which, that, Ø et whose permettent de greffer une proposition relative sur un nom.

1 Les relatives déterminatives

Elles apportent une information nécessaire à l’identification de l’antécédent.

« Dont » se traduit par whose uniquement dans la construction nom + relatif + nom.

I have met the man whose car broke down yesterday.

J’ai rencontré l’homme dont la voiture est tombée en panne hier.

Elles apportent un simple complément d’information  elles sont toujours placées entre virgules.

Her sister, who lives next door, has got three dogs.
